Medical Massage

Carol Bieter holds a certification in Medical Massage. While the state licensing board makes no distinction between a licensed massage therapist and an LMT with a medical massage certification, MMTC's have received additional training in treating specific conditions for which a doctor may prescribe massage (ie: shoulder / neck issues, low back / sciatica, etc.). Medical massage therapists are also able to file insurance when applicable.

Be advised that most insurance companies do not cover massage therapy, even if it is prescribed by your doctor. However, if you have a flex-spend account, you can usually use it to pay. Ms. Bieter has a National Provided Identifier (NPI) number, and is approved to do insurance work. If you have a situation where your insurance provider (not flex-spend) will be covering the cost, Restorative Body Therapies must have written approval by the insurance company prior to the first appointment.

Although massage therapy is not generally covered by insurance, you can usually use your flex-spend account to cover the cost, provided your physician has prescribed the treatment. If your doctor has recommended massage, ask him or her for a written prescription. Bring a copy of the prescription with you to the appointment. (You will need to keep the original for your records.) You can either charge the cost directly to your flex-spend card, or you can pay with cash, check, or credit card, obtain a receipt, and send it in yourself. Please check with your insurance company if you are unsure as to whether or not they allow payment with flex-spend.
